Acer has reduced the price of its Chromium netbook, AC700. Earlier, it was being retailed for 350 dollars, but now the company is selling it for just 300 dollars on sites like Amazon. For those who do not know, AC700 is one of the first Chromebooks and it ships with Google Chromium operating system instead of windows 7 starter that is widely used in Atom powered netbooks.

It comes with 16GB flash storage and is ideal for those who spend most of the time online. It offers seamless integration of Google apps like Gmail and Google docs. You can also cache the data for offline access. Music and pictures can also be read, thanks to the SD card slot present on the netbook.

Specs of Acer Ac700 include 11.6 inch display, 1366 x 768 pixel screen, Intel Atom N570 1.66GHz processor, 16GB SSD and 2GB DDR3 RAM.

The AC700 features an 11.6 inch display, Atom N570 processor (1.66GHz clock speed, dual core, four threads), 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB solid state drive (SSD) for storage. Other specs include 2x USB 2.0 ports, four in one card reader, 802.11n Wi-Fi and a 6-cell battery to keep it running for 6 hours.

Compared to the Kogan Chromebook, the AC700 has less powerful processor but is backed by strong customer support.

We mentioned in 2009 about Acer working on a Chromium netbook (which turned out to be Acer ZGA) last year but then there were several reports of Acer cancelling the project. Now, a mention of a netbook with Chrome OS called ZGB has been spotted in a bug report (filed few hours back). This is what the report says,

Found device ID 0×56
Found revision ID 0×01
Mode 1366×768 (43)
1366×768, dot clock 69310000 -Hsync -Vsync
H: start 1414, end 1446, skew 0, total 1462
V: start 770, end 775, total 790
Firmware size = 2691 bytes.
CH7036 MCU ver 1.4, Device 56 rev 1, capability 0×1

According to Macles, this is a Chrome netbook with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and features an HDMI port, something which the Google CR48 lacks. They also say that the netbook will powered by an Atom processor, just like any other netbook in town. It is just sad to see that there is no mention of Fusion chips by AMD
